Mirume,Great Benzaiten
This work is a sculpture that creatively combines two figures: Mirume, a character from “The Islands of Izu,” and his true form, the Great Benzaiten. It expresses the Japanese religious concept of honjisuijaku, the belief that buddhas from outside Japan manifest in the form of local gods. Benzaiten, who originated in India and came to Japan via China, is depicted with the Ugajin deity above her head, holding a treasure sword in her right hand and a pearl in her left hand. She destroys enemies and bestows wealth and fortune. Benzaiten is identified with the Sea Dragon King, who controls rain and water. This piece is a one-of-a-kind original work, the first precious creation made for Artexpo New York. In the future, we will continue to produce and unveil other sculptures in the same series, so please check our website and Instagram for updates. We also accept commissioned orders for your favorite deity. If you are interested, Please contact our staff for more information.
